Creative Nonfiction
Over the past three years, in response a series of life-changing events, my work has shifted from journalistic and arts writing to creative nonfiction. This shift resulted in the book manuscript, “How To Feel Yourself Up: A Meditation on Identity, Empathy, the Faggot Body, and the Wonder of Survival,” a hybrid of cultural critique, social activism, and lyrical memoir. So far, I have published three adaptations of “How To Feel Yourself Up” chapters:
An Enchantment of Language, Fourth Genre, Spring 2026, Finalist for the 2025 Michael Steinberg Memorial Essay Prize
Wholly Bloody, Holy Land? North American Review, Summer 2024, Selected for the “Notable Essays and Literary Nonfiction of 2024” list of Best American Essays 2025
“The Best Thing to Do”: Virginia Woolf’s Suicide Notes, in Philosophy of Final Words, edited by Valery Vino (Melbourne: Mongrel Matter, 2025)
